Comments:  This bird was seen and photographed in Maryland waters from aboard a pelagic trip out of Lewes, Delaware (8/28/2004). A very rare Atlantic pelagic species, the White-faced Storm-Petrel has the unique habit of holding its wings stiffly at its sides and hopping along the surface of the ocean. It sounds strange, but is even stranger to see!
